Tripoint

Tripoint (or) Trijunction (or) Triple point (or) tri-border area

The International tripoint is a geographical point at which the borders of three countries meet or subnational entities meet. There are currently 157 international tripoints.more international tripoints that country has

  • China has highest tripoints i.e is 16
  • Russia with 11 to 14 lead the list of states by number of tripoints.

    Treriksroset (Sweden/Norway/Finland)

    Treriksroset is the point at which the borders of Sweden, Norway and Finland meet. In English Treiksroset means "Three-Country Cairn". This is Sweden's most northerly point and it is the westernmost point of the Finnish mainland . The tripoint monument itself is a yellow dome-shaped stone made of concrete, located about 10 metres (33 ft) out in Lake Goldajarv. This monument of stones erected in 1897 The best way to get here is travel to Kilpisjarvi in Finland, and then take the boat M/S Malla over the lake to the Swedish side and walk a 3km trail to Treriksroset. The boat goes three times per day. Or if you prefer you can walk a 11 km trail which is part of the longer trail Nordkalottleden.

    Triple Frontier (Paraguay/Argentina/Brazil)

    Is Triple point Frontier between Paraguay-Argentina-Brazil. Located on the mighty Parana and Iguazu Rivers, the area is one of the fastest growing, most important, and most dangerous areas in the Southern Cone of South America. The world's largest hydroelectric facility, at the confluence of the Iguazu and Parana Rivers.. This area is near Iguazu Falls



    Dreilandereck (Germany/Switzerland/France)

    The tripoint of France, Germany and Switzerland in the river Rhine. The monument is about 50 meters from the exact point at the port of Basel.The location has been an international tripoint since the 17th century. Basel joint the Swiss Confederation in 1501 which was de facto independent from the Holy Roman Empire since 1499, de jure in 1648. The area on the left bank left the Empire and joined France in 1634.



    Tumba Peak (Bulgaria/Greece/Macedonia)

    Tumba Peak (Bulgaria/Greece/Macedonia) International tripoint. Tumba is peak in the Belasica mountains in the Region of Macedonia.The altitude of the peak is 1,880 meters.Every August since 2001, an international excursion to the peak is organized under the motto "Balkans Without Borders".

    Prespa Lake is divided between Albania, Greece and Macedonia.The tripoint in Lake Prespa is close to the point that is halfway between the Macedonian island of Golem Grad and Albanian peninsula.
