1. France and Switzerland on 11 July 2013 have signed an agreement on inheritance taxes as per which Paris will help it bringing in more money. As per the agreement, the inheritances will be taxed based on where the recipient resides, but not where the deceased lived, as it is used to be earlier. The agreement is supposed to allow France to ask Switzerland to investigate suspicious bank activity even if it does not have the suspects’ names.The new agreement will make it tuff for people living in France to escape taxes.
2. Eminent Carnatic musician Nukala Chinna Satyanarayana passed away following brief illness.Satyanarayana, a recipient of Padma Bhushan and several other prestigious awards, died at his residence. He was 89.
3. The first direct flight service between India and Vietnam will begin by November this year.
4. The Supreme Court has asked the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to appraise it within two weeks about the status of rescue operations in rain-ravaged Uttarakhand.

Irish lawmakers on Friday (July 12) overwhelmingly backed a groundbreaking law that will allow abortion in limited cases in the predominantly Catholic country, following an outcry over the tragic death of an Indian dentist after a miscarriage last year. After days of debate and delays, Ireland's lower house Dail passed the legislation by a 127-31 vote allowing limited abortion rights.
7. Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) party leader Hemant Soren is likely to take an oath as Jharkhand’s ninth chief minister tomorrow on 12 July, 2013.
8. Process to start n-fission at Kudankulam to be over Sat-Sun. Work towards taking the 1,000 MW first unit at the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project (KNPP) is in progress from Thursday evening and is expected to get over in 48-72 hours time (Saturday-Sunday evening), the top official of the country's atomic energy establishment has said.
9. IDBI Bank launches retail platform for inflation indexed bonds. IIBs will be able to diversify the investor base of bond market in the country, said Khan, while speaking at the launch of an online platform developed by IDBI Bank that enables retail investors and general public to invest in the IIBs.
10. Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd said Friday it had launched decitabine injections in the US following approval for its generic by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Decitabine is a generic version of Japanese drug maker Eisai Co. Ltd’s Dacogen, used to treat mylodysplastic syndromes (MDS), which often leads to anaemia.
