What is El Nino?
El Nino, which literally means boy in Spanish.El Nino is an abnormal warming of surface ocean waters in the eastern tropical pacific cause climatic changes this climate pattern's oscillations cause extreme weather in many regions of the world and this El ninos tend to happen for every 3-7 years. EL Nino flows southward along the coasts of Ecuador and Peru, between January and March
The 1982-1983 El Nino Strongest El Nino in this century.
Who recognized first?El Nino was originally recognized by fisherman off the coast of South America as the appearance of unusually warm water in the Pacific ocean, occurring near the beginning of the year.
What are El Nino weather patterns?Monsoon faithfully arrives at the shores of Kerala every year in the month of June. Its arrival is sometimes disrupted by a phenomena called El Nino which occurs in Eastern Pacific, near the shores of Peru. The ENSO is known to have a pronounced effect on the strength of SW Monsoon over India with the Monsoon being weak. Most of severe droughts in India have been associated with the El Nino events. This anomaly causes variability of the monsoons.when pressure is high over the Pacific Ocean, it tends to be low over the Indian Ocean from Australia to Africa. As pressures are inversely related to rainfall, it implies that low pressure over the Indian Ocean would result in a good monsoon.
