Third amendment

  • Limits maximum number of seats in lok sabha up to 500.States would be divided into constituencies such that one member of a constituency will represent not less than every 750000 people but not more than every 5000000 people.
  • This amendment substituted entry 33 of List III (Concurrent List) of the Seventh Schedule to make it correspond to Article 369
  • Article 81:Composition of the House of the People.

    Fourth Amendment

    Amended Articles: 31, 31A and 305 of, and the Ninth Schedule

  • Restrictions on property rights and inclusion of related bills in Schedule 9 of the constitution
  • Article 31A of the Constitution was also amended to extend its scope to cover categories of essential welfare legislation like abolition of zamindaris, proper planning of urban and rural areas and for effecting a full control over the mineral and oil resources of the country, etc.
  • In the Ninth Schedule to the Constitution, after entry 13 Six Acts were also included.
  • Article 305 was also amended to save certain laws providing of State Monopolies.

    Article 305:Saving of existing laws and laws providing for State monopolies
    NINTH SCHEDULE:Validation of certain Acts and Regulations.
