National Day of Srilanka

Prior to the 1972 srilanka was known as ceylon for more than a century srilanka(Blessed Isle) was a British colony but on $th february 1948 the country achieved it's independence and officially become the Democratic Socialist Republic of Srilanka. The Independence day of Srilanka is a great National occasion celebrated with parades and pageants combined with the spirit of patriotism and national pride.The celebrations begin witht he hoisting the National flag and singing the National anthem and follwed by the traditional lighting of the lamp ceremony
